Parent Involvement

City Kids is a parent/teacher co-operative Childcare Centre.
It is community-based and non-profit making.
A management committee is responsible for running the Centre.
Childcare fees are used to operate and maintain City Kids.

The teachers and committee are there to help parents get the most from City Kids.
An appointment to see the Supervisor can be made at any time.
Ideas, suggestions or resources to improve the Centre are always welcome.

Parent involvement at City Kids includes:

  • Working bees, which are held 2-3 times per year.
Parents are required to attend one working bee a year.
If they are unable to attend, a $60 fee may be charged.
This is to assist City Kids in paying for tradespeople to do the work that parents would usually complete.

  • Special events for children and families; celebrations, educational evenings, fish & chip evenings, summer barbecues etc.

  • Fundraising - usually for specific purchases such as new bikes, sand equipment, shade cloth etc.
One major fundraiser is organised each year.

The Committee

The managment of City Kids is the responsibility of parents and staff.

The Committee consists of parents, the Centre Supervisor, and a teacher representative.
Photos of Committee members are displayed on a board in the main play room.
The Committee aims to leverage the diverse skills of its members to improve facilities at the Centre.

Committee meetings are held monthly, usually on the third Wednesday of the month.
The committee aims to continually improve the facilities and maintain high standards.
All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the committee meetings.
Remember it is your Centre too!

The Annual General Meeting is held around the middle of each year.
