Our curriculum

City Kids offers experiences which are  guided by "Te Whaariki" the early childhood curriculum.
Resources and materials are provided for a child at his/her level of development, and teachers plan from childrens interests.
Equipment is stored within easy reach of the children.

The teachers assess the children's level of development and plan to meet their needs and extend their interests.
Teachers hold monthly meetings to discuss the children's progress.

Parents are asked to provide information about daily routines, sleeping and eating preferences and favourite toys.
This will maintain consistency with home life and make the settling in period much easier.
Each child has their own profile book which is maintained by one of the teachers.
The book contains photographs, art work and observations on special interest areas.
The book is also kept for learning stories, individual planning and evaluations.
They are used as a method of communication between teachers and families,
and to document the child's progress. Whanau are encouraged to also add to this book.
